"The Gold Standard for Transparency"

"Public at the point of creation, not a request after the fact."

Transparency is not a buzzword for this campaign; it is a technical mission. For three years, I have collaborated with the CitizenPortal.ai team to build the Utah taxonomy, fueling a system with over 114,000 public meetings. My goal is to make Utah the global gold standard for accountability by ensuring that public records are accessible the moment they are created.

The hard truth I have learned is that the current GRAMA system is only as good as the least ethical clerk. Even an honest clerk can be thwarted by institutional "shields" that allow records to be hidden, destroyed, or defined away. When a court clerk can claim that a digital recording is "not a record," or when citizens are forced to guess the exact date and time of a meeting just to exercise their right to know, the system is fundamentally backwards.

We must move beyond a reactive request system that relies on a gatekeeper’s discretion. By utilizing technology to provide proactive, open access, we remove the "human roadblock" from the equation. I am running to ensure that in Utah, sunshine is the default, and the truth is never more than a few clicks away.

"Protecting Public Lands- Our Canyons and Community"

"I didn’t learn about our canyons from a briefing at the Capitol; I learned about them through a decade of stewardship alongside some of the finest people I know. While I’ve put plenty of miles on my own boots, the real story of American Fork Canyon is one of teamwork. I’ve been blessed to work with a dedicated group of volunteers who venture into the furthest reaches of the upper canyon to ensure its beauty is preserved for all of us.

My role has often been simply to bring the right people to the table. When Forest Road 085 fell into disrepair, I was honored to help initiate a field trip that brought together our County Commissioner, Surveyor, Sheriff, and Public Works team. Supported by the strength of our motorized community, we spent years working together to find a solution. Today, I’m grateful to see that road restored, once again connecting the Wasatch Back to Utah County and the Heber Valley.

Whether we were coordinating with the EPA to identify legacy contaminants or working to resolve 'fuzzy' historical boundaries on mining claims, I have been humbled by the grit and heart of our community. I’m running for the House to bring that same spirit of collaborative, 'boots-on-the-ground' service to the legislature—because Utah deserves a representative who listens, respects the team, and isn't afraid to do the heavy lifting for our families to help protect natural resource and the water quality we rely upon."

"A Legacy for the Next Generation: Improving the Path Our Children Will Walk."

For 64 years, I have been blessed to call Utah home, and during that time, I’ve learned that the freedom and beauty we enjoy are not guaranteed—they are inherited responsibilities. As an Eagle Scout, I was taught a simple but profound rule: always leave the trail better than you found it. Today, as a father of four and a grandfather of seven, that lesson has become the mission of my life.

My perspective is forged from real-world experience, not political theory. I know what it’s like to raise a family and navigate the difficult challenges of our family court system. I have seen the "chinks" in our statutes and the ways in which our legal processes can sometimes fail the very people they are meant to protect. These experiences have steeled my resolve to ensure that the "best interest of the child" is a lived reality in Utah law, protecting families from weaponized legal filings and ensuring our courts operate with the highest levels of integrity.

I am running for the House because I believe, as Ronald Reagan warned, that freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We don’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream; we must fight for it, protect it, and hand it on for them to do the same. Whether it was emceeing our Wallsburg Candidate Night to ensure every voice was heard, or advocating for transparency in our government, my focus is on the future. I want to look my seven grandchildren in the eye and know that I did my part to leave them a Utah that is free, transparent, and full of opportunity.
